Cook together
One cookbook. Everyone’s in it.
Why it matters
Most dinners are cooked for someone.
Every other recipe app is a box for one person. But the question “what’s for dinner?” is almost never asked alone. It’s asked across a kitchen, over a text, in a supermarket aisle.
In Thyme to Cook the cookbook is shared. The recipes, the week’s plan and the shopping list belong to everyone in it, and each person still has a say.
- Mushroom risotto
- Lemon ricotta pancakes
- Crispy chili tofu
- GnocchiSam
- ParmesanJo
- LimesSam, just now
How sharing works
Start one, invite someone, cook.
- You start with your ownYour cookbook is yours from the first recipe. Nobody else is in it until you invite them.
- Invite with a codeMake an invite code in Settings and send it to whoever you cook with. It’s a short code you can say aloud across the kitchen, and it expires after seven days. Make a new one at any time to cancel the old one.
- They joinThey enter the code in their own app. They keep their own login, and joining costs them nothing.
- Everyone sees the same thingsThe same recipes, the same plan, the same shopping list, with who added what.
Together, and still yourselves
Each person keeps their own say.
Cravings
Mark a recipe as something you’re craving. Everyone can see what each person wants, so “what should I make for her” has a real answer.
Tonight and soon
Ask for a recipe tonight, or put it on the soon list. When someone asks for something, it shows at the top of everyone’s home screen.
Votes
Can’t agree? Everyone ranks the options, and the result is revealed once the last person has voted.
Their own dietary needs
Each person records what they avoid. Recipes are checked against everyone who eats, and the assistant is told what the kitchen avoids, never whose it is.
Who can change what
Clear, and always reversible.
- SeatsThe person who starts the cookbook covers its seats. If everyone who joins fits, they can add and change things. If not, they can look but not change, and the app says so when they join.
- You can remove anyoneThe owner can take someone out of their cookbook at any time, and that frees the seat.
- Anyone can leaveLeaving is always possible, even for someone who can only look. You keep your own cookbook and everything in it.
- More than one cookbookBe in your own and someone else’s, and switch between them on your phone. Each keeps its own recipes on your device.
- Safe by defaultEvery shared recipe has a Report control, anyone can be blocked, and reports are read by a person. See the community rules.
